Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award was established in 2015 and is awarded the photographer with the most interesting Photo Book idea during Landskrona Foto Festival.
The award means that the chosen photographer will have their “Dummy Project” published. The book will be printed, designed and distributed. The photographer will also receive a larger number of books to dispose over and sell. The prize is valued at approximately 15.000 euros.
Applications for the 2016 Dummy Award is now closed and the jury will hand-pick four nominees. These will present their book projects during Landskrona Foto Festival’s Open Bookdummy Review in front of an expert panel and audience on the 20th August 2016.
The nominated photo books will also be exhibited in the foyer of Landskrona Theatre during Landskrona Foto Festival 2016.
The shortlisted photographers who will join us in Landskrona for the Open Book Dummy Review and have the chance to win the Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award are:
Brenda Moreno (MX)
Duccio Doretti (IT)
Hiro Tanaka (JP)
Constantin Schlachter (FR)
Thanks to all participants with all your fantastic dummies. Hope to see you all in Landskrona at the festival.
The international jury this year is:
Beate Cegielska (Galleri Image), Denmark
Christina de Middel (artist), Mexico
Nadya Sheremetova (FotoDepartement), Russia
Greger Ulf Nilsson (graphic designer), Sweden
Tony Kristensson (Breadfield), Sweden
Dominique Roynette (graphic designer), France
The winner of the Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award 2016 is Duccio Doretti from Italy.
The jury’s motivation:
Duccio Doretti merges his photographs into the world of images.
What makes his work so intriguing is the subtly with which he questions the medium of photography with his own photographs and, simultaneously, questions the documentation of our collected histories.
His intentions are clear; man destroys and man creates. This is a story that is told in a close and personal way.
To present his narrative Duccio Doretti makes effective use of the book format, with all its possibilities and limitations.
Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award 2015 was awarded to:
YOU WOULD BE EARTH by Meral Güler (USA) and Dan Porter (UK).
The jury’s citation
You Would Be Earth is a story unanchored in time and space. So difficult to grasp, define and classify. It is enticing yet elusive. Meral Güler and Dan Porter are awarded this prize for their ability to awaken the unknown within us.
The jury’s honourable mention went to Marco Frauchiger (CH) for the book M13.
The 2015 jury consisted of Per Lindström (Landskrona Foto), Jenny Lindhe (Breadfield), Silvia Loddo (osservatorio fotografico), Nick McLean (Éditions du LIC) and Veronique Bourgoin (artist).
There was a big interest in the Awards and we received 112 Dummies from all over the world. The quality was very high throughout and it was challenging for the jury to select only four projects.
