Iréne Attinger

Irène Attinger is a graduate in Political Sciences at Lausanne University. Irène Attinger has a professional career in Human Aid field (ICRC), culture (corporate, theater, photography). Irène Attinger has been involved in the world of photo museums since 1986, first at the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne (Switzerland), then at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris.

Today Irène Attinger is a renowned specialist in photography books. Since 1995, she has been headed the MEP library, which she helped organize. Irène Attinger is also heading the MEP bookstore, for which she writes a column on the MEP website about books on sale at the store. She makes her selection based on their originality, editorial quality and the importance of their content.

Irène Attinger has curated several exhibitions (the Swiss cultural Magazine Du. -Book of Nudes from the Bertolotti Collection, Latin American Fragments – 16 countries, 9 countries, 48 years of Images, Claude Nori Photographer and Publisher). Irène Attinger is also the author of the book entitled Une bibliothèque published this year at Actes Sud which presents a selection of 100 books from the collection of the MEP Library (one of the most important photography Library). She will be curating a show concerning this collection during Les Rencontres d’Arles from July 2th to September 23, 2018.
