In connection with Landskrona Foto Festival, the festival arranges a Portfolio Review for professional photographers and photo-based artists. It is an important part of the festival, because participating in the Portfolio Review can result in the opportunity to exhibit in the next festival, or in other formats. We have good results from previous years. Several participants have been invited to the fotofestivals of Derby, Athens, Dublin and Leipzig, among others. Besides that, several photobooks has been published by the German publishing company Kehrer.
During Landskrona Foto Festival 2020 we arranged an Online Portfolio Review in collaboration with Portfolio Dialogue. Photographers from all over the world participated.
A jury consisting of Landskrona Foto Festival Artistic Director Monica Allende and Landskrona Foto Director Jenny Nordquist selected the portfolio by Chow and Lin as this year best portfolio. We now look forward to exhibit their work at the next Landskrona Foto Festival in 2022. The exhibition production is sponsored by Artproof up to a value of €1500.
- Winner 2020: Chow & Lin ( Malaysia/Singapore).
- Honorable mentions 2020: Rebecca Najdowski, USA and Michael Honegger, Germany.
The jury’s motivation: Chow and Lin’s work on the human impact on the environmental crisis and global poverty addresses topics of immediate universal concern, their artistic gift is to visualize complexed scientific data into what appears an effortless endeavor.
The core of Chow and Lin’s practice lies in their methodology of statistical, mathematical and computational techniques to address global issues since 2009. Through a typological, photographic approach, Chow and Lin’s projects are driven by the discursive backgrounds in economics, public policy, media, and these are further augmented by enduring exchanges with specialists from those fields.
Their works have been referenced by the World Bank and showcased at the Triennale di Milano; United Nations ESCAP, Bangkok; Lianzhou Foto; Les Nuits Photographiques, Paris; China Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum; Gexto Photo; Hermitage Museum, Saint-Petersberg; Myanm/art gallery,Yangon; Museum of Modern Art, Tblisi and National University of Singapore Museum.
