RESIDENCY

Twice a year Landskrona Foto Residency welcomes an early to mid-career photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens-based media, who wishes to further and challenge their practice, to Landskrona, to engage in a project related to the city.

PRACTICAL INFO

Our residency program is an opportunity for a non-Swedish photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens based media to have time and space away from their usual environment and obligations. The residency takes place for 6 weeks during the spring and in the autumn. The residency photographer receives a grant of 15000 SEK (approx. 1500 EUR), travel expenses to and from the home country (economy only), an apartment in Landskrona, and an office space with Landskrona Foto crew. Landskrona Foto connects the photographer in residency with regional-based photographers, artists and other art professionals through meetings, mentoring, exhibition openings and other networking opportunities.

HOW TO ENTER

It is now possible to apply to our Open Call for the Autumn Residency through Picter.

SPRING RESIDENCY

We are happy to announce Marta Djourina as the photographer who is joining us for the spring residency!

Marta Djourina’s (b. Bulgaria) artistic practice focuses on the exploration of various light phenomena. Light becomes a subject matter, a tool and an object of investigation. While some works have a biographical component and apply the use of self-made pinhole cameras (later sent per post, attached to a pigeon or made out of a suitcase during travel), other works explore the light of living organisms such as mushrooms and algae. Often, the artist applies historical photographic techniques, e.g. to capture the notion of touch within an image.

“During the residency I plan to extend the idea of working with a type of water photograms. I am very interested in the Øresund as a bordering water area with a long and vast history. Therefor I want to dedicate my exploration to Øresund. During each day of the residency I plan to make photograms on large sheet film of the water itself, working straight on the coast.”

We look forward to welcoming you Marta!
