Wet plate photography is a handcrafted technique from the 1850s in which each image is created directly on a glass or aluminium plate. What do images do to us as viewers, and can they change how we understand the world and our place within it?                              <br>                                                                                                                                     <strong>Debi Cornwall<\/strong> is an American conceptual documentary artist who, after twelve years as a civil rights lawyer, turned to photography in 2014. His work explores social issues and the evolving narratives of documentary photography through long-term, research-driven projects. His teaching and research focus on art historiography, aesthetics, and visuality from the sixteenth century to the present day.<br><br><strong>Erika Larsson<\/strong> is Associate Professor of Art History and Visual Culture at Lund University and researcher at Skissernas Museum. She curated the Polish Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, presenting an exhibition by the Ukrainian artist collective <strong>Open Group<\/strong>. Her work is rooted in archival research and contemporary art historical inquiry, with a particular focus on exhibition histories in Poland and the role of the curator.<br><br><strong>Open Group<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Yuriy Biley, Pavlo Kovach, and Anton Varga<\/strong>\u2014is a Ukrainian artist collective founded in Lviv in 2012. Since 2015, its members have been based across Ukraine, Poland, Germany, and the United States. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, he documented the economic crises and social upheavals of the Donbas region. Since moving to Kyiv in 1997, he has continued to work as a photojournalist, documenting Ukraine through times of peace, revolution, and war.
