In collaboration with Bergtsson Fine Art, Landskrona Foto is pleased to present a week-long exhibition at their gallery space in Arles, France, during the opening week (July 7-12) of the renowned photography festival Rencontres d’Arles.
This exhibition brings together two distinct yet interwoven artistic perspectives by Johann Husser and Emilia Martin—both former residency photographers at Landskrona Foto. Produced during their time in Landskrona, these works delve into the physical and emotional textures of the city, engaging with its architecture, histories, and invisible threads of memory and transformation.
In Threads ( 2022-2023), Johann Husser reflects on how gentrification reshapes cities by observing changes in the built environment. Through images of architectural contrasts—such as old social housing beside new developments—he explores what is preserved and what fades away. Inspired by daily walks in Landskrona, he captures subtle details like tools left at construction sites and advertisements promising renewal. Blending observation and imagination, the work traces the delicate ties between place, people, and ongoing social change.
In Hail Mary, bobbin lace, serpent’s thread (2024–in progress), Emilia Martin weaves personal memory with local history to explore themes of feminine labour, domestic ritual, and forgotten legacy. Prompted by memories of her grandmother’s intricate textile work, Martin draws a line between her own familial narrative and the little-known story of the Andersson sisters in Landskrona, who dedicated their lives to producing textiles that were never used. Developed during her residency in Landskrona, Martin’s project combines photography, text, and research into textile traditions to explore how stories are carried through thread.
Together, these projects offer personal and thoughtful reflections on Landskrona. Through buildings, memories, and stories, Husser and Martin show how the city reveals—and sometimes conceals—traces of change, history, and care.

Bio: Johann Husser (b. 1990 in Kemerovo, Soviet Union) is an artist and photographer based in Dresden, Germany. His work explores urban space, memory, and social transformation through image-making that draws on documentary styles and associative processes. Often engaging with places over long periods, he seeks to unravel layers of personal and collective conditions embedded in environments.
Bio:Emilia Martin (1991) is a Polish artist and photographer based in the Hague, the Netherlands, where in 2022 she graduated from Photography & Society Masters at the Royal Academy of the Art. Working with photography, writing, and sound, she explores how the stories we tell shape the realities we inhabit. Her process is based on careful research and personal, often playful approaches, through which she questions dominant narratives.
