HANS JONSSON – WET PLATE PHOTOGRAPHY

During the festival’s opening weekend, you can have your portrait taken by photographer Hans Jonsson using the historic wet plate collodion process and take home a unique portrait. Wet plate photography is a handcrafted technique from the 1850s in which each image is created directly on a glass or aluminium plate. The result is a one-of-a-kind original with a distinctive presence and timeless character

As part of the opening of Landskrona Foto Festival on 4 September, the Swedish Association of Professional Photographers (Svenska Fotografers Förbund) presents an artist talk with South African photographer Pieter Hugo on the Main Stage at Landskrona Theatre.
2:30–3:00 pm – Pre-event Reception with the Swedish Association of Professional Photographers
The programme begins with an informal gathering at Restaurant Matscenen, where visitors can meet representatives and board members of the Swedish Association of Professional Photographers..
3:00–4:15 pm – Between Documentary and Desire: Photojournalism, Art and Fashion
In this conversation, Pieter Hugo reflects on his career and artistic practice. Beginning in documentary photography, where he explored socially and politically charged subjects, he later established himself as a leading contemporary artist and expanded his work into fashion photography. Through his image-making, Hugo has developed a distinctive visual language, often characterised by direct portraiture and a focus on marginalised communities.

Photographer Ikram Abdulkadir reflects on her artistic practice and her path into photography in a conversation with Anna Tellgren, curator of her current exhibition Soft Focus at Moderna Museet Malmö.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1995 and raised in the Rosengård district of Malmö, Ikram Abdulkadir began photographing while still in high school. Sharing her work through the Instagram account @ikramianism, she quickly gained attention and received commissions in fashion and portrait photography. Since then, she has presented solo exhibitions in Malmö, Stockholm, Norrköping, and Copenhagen. In 2023, her work was included in Søsterskap – Contemporary Nordic Photography at the international photography festival Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, France.
Anna Tellgren is Curator of Photography and Head of Research at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. She has curated numerous exhibitions, including Lars Tunbjörk: Winter/Home (2007), Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff: Alternative Secrecy (2021), and Brassaï – Paris’ Secret Signs (2026). Her exhibition Francesca Woodman: On Being an Angel (2015) toured internationally for several years. Recent publications include contributions to Photographic Histories: Photography and Image Practices in Sweden (2022), Deborah Turbeville Photocollage (2023), and Striving for Independence: Nordic Women Studio Photographers 1860–1920 (2026).

Welcome to the opening of Landskrona Foto Festival at Landskrona Art Gallery. The evening begins with opening remarks by the festival’s Artistic Directors, Jenny Nordquist and Jenny Lindhe, followed by a speech by Greger Ulf Nilson. Afterwards, guests are invited to stay for refreshments and mingling.
